What is A Paint Correction?

A paint correction is a procedure aimed at eliminating surface imperfections and restoring a car’s original paint shine. This service involves detecting and addressing swirl marks, scratches, and other paint flaws.

We employ a multi-step technique that includes machine polishing and buffing to correct these imperfections. The result is a consistent gloss and clarity on the paint, revealing a smooth and reflective finish.

How are swirl Marks Caused?

Swirl marks are circular scratches on car paint that can significantly affect a vehicle’s appearance. These imperfections are often caused by friction between the paint and debris during washing or drying. Improper techniques, such as using a dirty wash mitt or drying towel, can grind debris into the paint, creating swirl marks.

Additionally, washing or drying your car in a circular motion can drag debris across the paint’s surface, leading to these unsightly scratches. While new vehicles, freshly painted cars, and professionally detailed vehicles may be free of swirl marks, most other cars, even well-maintained ones, tend to develop them over time.

Benefits of A paint correction

Enhance value

A well-maintained vehicle with corrected paintwork can command a higher resale value. Potential buyers are often drawn to cars that appear to be in excellent condition, and a flawless paint job is a key factor in determining a vehicle's overall desirability.

Protect against future damage

By addressing existing paint imperfections, paint correction helps create a smoother surface that is less susceptible to damage from environmental contaminants and road debris. This enhanced surface protection can help preserve the integrity of your vehicle’s paint over time.

Boost paint protection

After paint correction, the improved surface provides a better foundation for applying protective products such as wax or ceramic coatings. These coatings adhere more effectively, enhancing their protective capabilities and extending the lifespan of your car’s paint.

OUR Packages

A paint correction (buffing) will remove imperfections (scratches, blemishes, oxidation) in your vehicle, boat, or plane paint job.

A one-step correction will typically remove up to 75% of defects, depending on the hardness of the paint.

A two-step correction will typically remove up to 95% of defects. We recommend a two-step correction on all foreign vehicles (BMW, Mercedes Benz, etc.) because they typically have very hard paint.

Both include the following:

– Prerinse

– Wheel cleaning

– Foam bath

– Hand wash

– Iron decontamination (iron particles from your breaks that have become stuck in your clear coat and look like little rust spots)

– Clay bar (removes embedded contamination)

– Hand dry

– Paint correction (2-5 hours typically)

FAQs

The cost of paint correction can vary depending on several factors, including the size of your vehicle, the severity of the paint damage, the desired level of correction, and the type of paint coating or protection you choose. To get an accurate estimate for your specific vehicle, please contact us.

The duration of the paint correction process can vary depending on the size and condition of your vehicle, the extent of the damage, and the level of restoration required. Smaller vehicles with minor imperfections may be completed in a few hours, while more significant projects could take a full day.

While both paint correction and polishing involve improving the appearance of your car’s paint, they serve different purposes. Polishing is primarily used to remove surface scratches and imperfections, while paint correction involves a more in-depth process to restore the paint’s original luster and remove deeper defects.
